The Temple Isaiah Mens
Club is one of the
temple's premier service organizations. Mens Club's roots go back to
the early 1980s when we began holding monthly brunch meetings in the
Howard County General Hospital Education Center. We have contributed in many
different ways, serving the needs of the Temple for more than two decades.
Mission
Statement: We come together as a social and service entity to
foster camaraderie and friendship, to enhance our Jewish
life as Temple Isaiah men. Service provided to the Temple Isaiah
community is to be consistent with the goals and objectives of
Temple Isaiah.
Goals: Provide opportunity for
Jewish men to associate with each other, and to socialize and foster
friendships.
-
Present
opportunities for members to render service to the Temple Isaiah
community.
-
Provide
monthly meeting programs and other activities that cater to
various interests of the members.
-
Engage in
selective fund raising activities in support of Temple Isaiah.
-
Create an
environment in which members may choose the extent of their
participation in activities.
Our brunch
meetings are held Sunday mornings in Temple Isaiah's beautiful new Synagogue. Start and end times are
convenient for those dropping off / picking up from the TI Religious
School. We feature a guest speaker at each meeting. On occasion, we
meet at an alternative location and do things like taking an underground tour of Camden Yards. Guest
speakers come from all occupations and backgrounds, including
politicians and government officials, medical professionals, journalists, authors,
educators, and prominent
sports personalities.
The Mens Club has held major fundraising activities in support of Temple Isaiah,
the 2004, 2005, and 2007 Matzohball 5k run/walk events at Centennial Park.
We also sponsor the TI Family
Picnic, held on the grounds of our new Synagogue. We continue to make major contributions to
the temple’s new building and growing list of programs, and to provide additional funds for
critical temple needs. We extensively renovated the house on our
property, and installed a modern HVAC system there. Not
neglecting the social needs of our membership, we host golf outings, Casino Nights,
Bowling parties, Wine Tasting, and
our
annual Shabbat Service and dinner at TI, as well as fun trips to
Charlestown Raceway.
Join us and make new friends, have a great Sunday brunch, learn from
our guest speakers, and above all, become a member of a legacy of
Temple Isaiah.
