Meetings:
Brunch Meetings begin at 9:00AM in the new
Temple Isaiah building on MD-216, approximately 2.1 miles west of
US-29.
October 5, 2008: Barry
E. Bogage, Executive Director of the Maryland/Israel Development
Center (MIDC), a non-profit organization that promotes trade and
joint ventures between Maryland and Israeli companies and research
institutions. The MIDC is a partnership between the Maryland
Department of Business and Economic Development, Israel's Ministry
of Industry and Trade and The ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community
Federation of Baltimore.
Earlier, Mr. Bogage worked for the
Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation as the
Director of Research and Information. Closer to (our) home, he
served as the Director of Howard County's Office of Economic
Development. Prior to his current position, Mr. Bogage was the
Director of Business Development for Welsh Development International
Inc., the North American marketing arm of the Welsh Development
Agency of Great Britain. In this capacity, Mr. Bogage marketed the
Principality of Wales as a European location for American
manufacturers.
A native of Baltimore, Mr. Bogage
graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Government
and Politics, concentrating on Israeli and Middle Eastern history
and politics. He lived in Israel for three years as a student and
community development worker. He is married and has twin sons.

2, 2008: John Eisenberg, sports columnist for the
"Baltimore Sun" from 1984 until 2007, hopping the globe
covering events such as Wimbledon, the Super Bowl, the Final Four,
the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, the Masters, the Olympics and
soccer's World Cup. He won more than 20 awards, including several
firsts in the prestigious Associated Press Sports Editors contest.
Before joining "The Sun", he worked for the "Dallas
Times Herald" for five years.
John also authored six
books of sports-themed nonfiction, most recently "My Guy Barbaro,"
co-written with Hall of Fame horse racing jockey Edgar Prado. Before
that, he wrote "The Great Match Race," about the first major
sports event in American history, a North-South horse race in 1823. He
also published "The Longest Shot: Lil E. Tee and the Kentucky
Derby", "Cotton Bowl Days: Growing Up With Dallas and the
Cowboys in the 1960s", "From 33rd Street to Camden Yards: An
Oral History of the Baltimore Orioles", and "Native Dancer,
the Grey Ghost: Hero of a Golden Age."
A native of Dallas,
Texas, and a University of Pennsylvania graduate, John lives in Towson
with his wife, Mary Wynne, and their children: Anna, a junior at the
University of Maryland, and Wick, a senior at the Friends School of
Baltimore.

December
7, 2008: Asher Epstein, Managing Director of the Dingman
Center for Entrepreneurship, Robert H. Smith School of Business,
University of Maryland. Asher will speak on "Building an
Investment Philosophy for the Long Term". Mr.
Epstein has an undergraduate degree in English and History as well
as a Certificate of Management Studies from the University of
Rochester. He received an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of
Business.
Asher
Epstein joined the Dingman Center full time during the summer of
2004. Prior to that he held a variety of management and operational
positions working with Fortune 500 companies and startups. His
clients included AT&T, the Bank of Montreal, Bezeq Ltd. and
Chevy Chase Bank. Mr. Epstein has extensive start-up experience. He
has co-founded a company, raised money from angel investors, managed
an early stage company through 10X growth and has consulted with
almost 150 different early stage companies and is on the board of
three ventures. He has traveled to almost 40 countries, including
China repeatedly and India.
Asher currently
lives with his wife and children in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
